AHA Peel Aftercare: Addressing Post-Treatment Concerns & Wrinkles

Question
I had a mild AH applied to my face at a high end spa in Vegas this past Friday as part of a 80 minute facial. She told me to avoid the steam room, sauna and apply sunscreen. During the process, it was quite itchy and since the application, I feel like I look older with MORE wrinkles. My skin continues to itch at times and I have severe wrinkles under my eyes and I even feel a small tiny tiny bumps across one of my cheeks. The bumps are similar to one in a rash, but my face is not red. There is some flaking of the skin, which she said would occur, but I don't understand the severity of dryness and wrinkles I am experiencing post facial. Do I need to consult with a skin care specialist in my area about this? Can I do anything in the interim to relieve the dryness either product or care wise? I feel like I may have damaged and aged my skin more by allowing this peel.

Answer
Hi Desiree
It's only been three days, so I wouldn't panic yet. I would get soem cortisone 10 cream , it's over the counter and apply two - three times a day. It will help the irritation and dryness a bit. I commonly see where the peels I use on people make them appear older or more wrinkly, espesially around the eyes, the area just hasn't finished exfoliating yet. The cortisone might also help the bumps, but I can't promise that as I can't see them to see what they are. I sometimes have people break out after peels. If things aren't completely back to normal in 7-10 days I would see a dermatologist.
Hope this helps
