Safely Achieving Platinum Blonde on Previously Bleached Hair

Question
Hello. I have naturally dark brown hair. 8 months ago my stylist bleached some parts of my hair and she got it to a golden blond. Some of it was bleached already and that went platinum blond easily. My question is; is it safe to go over it again with a 20 volume bleach to get the rest to platinum blond? (the parts that are golden blond)

Answer
hi amanda,
due to the fact that it has been 8 months, you will need to have a color correction type application of the lightener in order to have the color turn out evenly blonde. the root area is only the 1/2 inch that is near the scalp. the mid shaft is from the hair that is near the scalp towards the ends, and the ends are the previously lightened hair. i understand your question, but at 8 months out, you must have 4 inches of dark regrowth at least, and is that untouched by any other coloring product? a professional should assess the situation, and when lightening, use the appropriate formulation and placement to get you to the color you desire.not knowing what your current color is, i cannot sight-unseen give you an answer.you may need more than what you can buy in a store is what i'm trying to say.please let a knowledgeable pro in a salon setting safely lighten your hair, to avoid any tears.
also, re bleaching can and usually does cause breakage of the previously bleached hair, so overlapping is not recommended.
