Fixing Unwanted Hair Color: A Guide to Correcting Gray Highlights

Question
I have jet black hair. I recently eanted grey hilights ( I know... WHO wants
grey?) I presented this with my hairdresser... they came out golden. So
we added ash, blue, and blonde brightener. It came out bright blonde
with a tint of grey. It faded. We bleached again with 40volume lift. At the
same time we added blue and ash. It turned some of it a reddish broen
and some grey.  How to we fix this? I want grey hilights! Please help!

Answer
hi jeremi,
gray hair is actually hair that is void of pigment. it is not really possible to remove all of the pigment through chemicals, especially in the case of jet black hair, which has a high concentration of pigment molecules in the hairshaft. light golden is the best case scenario, then toning with a drabber such as the steps your colorist already used are the options that are available. sorry for the sad news, wait a few years and the gray will come.
