Dealing with Bleach-Damaged Hair: Causes & Solutions
QuestionHi,
About a year ago I had my hair bleached to blonde (one process using 40 volume). It was platinum blonde (what I wanted) but it damaged my hair dramatically. I have since been coloring my hair brown with demi perm. color, which looks fine. The problem is damaged ends. I keep getting my hair trimmed, right now it is above my shoulders (slightly longer than chin length). It doesn't matter how often I get it trimmed, the ends (that were subjected to the bleaching) split and break off. I still have a few more inches to go before all of the processed hair will be long enough to get it cut completely off. Is there something I can do to help conceal the damage in the time being? It looks and feels awful. (Also, I am taking really good care of it- No heat styling and lots of conditioning.)
Thanks!
Answeryou are doing everything right as far as trimming(should be every 4-6 weeks) and conditioning(a mixture of protein and moisture). as long as the color is a true demi, meaning no ammonia no lift, deposit only, all you can do is wait til the damage grows out, or cut more off. since it's been a year, you shouldn't have much damage left.sorry, there isn't really any other way to make damaged hair look undamaged.
