QuestionHello Claire
I have few of these concerns worrying me since many years,I am 30yrs old lady
1)I have dark underarms,I do waxing to get rid of the hair but now a days(since 6 to 7 months) mostly shaving as I feel it is more easy, also I dont sweat much ,I use deosprays and sticks.could you suggest some home remedy if there are any?
2)My buttocks are dark ,the skin under my waist mostly on my buttocks and legs is rough , coarse and also have stretch marks, which i feel has worsened after i did a cold wax,i feel embarassed to expose my legs because it looks very manly sometimes.Recently I did use a bath salt for scrubbing, it feels great soon after but doesnt give any lasting results.
3)The skin on my upperarms is rough sometimes feels like grains of sand ,like dark spots(especially near the hair root), which again i feel has happened after a bad wax,i apply moisturiser and body lotion(so disappointed now that i use only seldom) but in vain, how can i get smooth skin on such areas?
kindly suggest some remedies for the above mentioned problems.
Many Thanx.
AnswerHi there Jane, thanks for your question.
To achieve the results you are after you might need to look at a range of things. I think introducing them as daily activities would also help you to get on top of the dry skin you experience.
I believe the expholiation is where you should start. As you say, this gives you a good result. It's a treatment that works best if it's repeated. I'd suggest every day in the shower or bath for about a month and then, once your skin is soft, dropping it down to twice a week. That's certainly what works for me. The skin is constantly renewing itself and the dead skin cells sit on the top unless we give a helping hand to get rid of them.
Moisturising every day is a must though. Skin loses hydration for so many reasons so to help it along; we need to replace the moisture every day. I would recommend something like Nivia Super Soft or Vaseline Intensive Care.
I see you are in the UK so I'd like to recommend a shop called Lush. They have a range of deodorants that are natural and very kind to the skin. They also have a beautiful skin treatment called Rose Agarn Oil, which you can put on wet skin after the bath. I find this remarkably good and it smells divine too. Some of the bath ballistics can leave skin a little dry so I'd avoid those but you could try a little bit of baby oil in the bath water instead.
Without seeing them, I'm not so sure how the dark spots appear. It is possible that with a good expholiation and moisturising programme these will disappear but if not, you could maybe try going to a skin specialist and asking about chemical peals. I don't think these are usually carried out on the body but it's the only way I know of reducing darker areas if they don't improve with what I've suggested above.
Drinking lots of pure water may also help to keep your body, and therefore your skin hydrated too.
I hope that helps,
Take care and again, thanks for getting in touch, Claire x
