Dark Scars on Skin: Causes, Treatments & Concealing Options

Question
Hi!
I have had dark scars on my arms and legs for a really long time! When ever I get a cut, bug bite, etc. it turns into a dark discoloration-type scar. Are there any treatments or products that can remove or hide these discolorations? I was looking into the Joan River's "Right To Bear Legs" for a 'temporary' cover up, but it got very mixed reviews.

Thanks!
Christy

Answer
Hello Christy,

I am not a make-up artist, but I have a great sense of observation and from what I've seen around me for so many years, whenever someone is trying to cover up a skin defect with foundation, the result is disastrous... so I wouldn't advise you to try to hide your scars. Moreover, the product you mention contains parabens preservatives that have been linked to breast cancer.

Instead, I would recommend you to use a combination of green clay poultices, Argan and Wild Musk Rose oils and raw Shea butter. You can have an idea of what natural organic WIld Musk Rose oil can do on scars by reading this article:

And Shea butter here:

Green Clay will also help to regenerate your skin and smooth out the scars. But it takes time.
If you are in a rush, you can also see a dermatologist to do laser treatments, but they are costly.
I am sorry not to be able to give you a quick and easy fix for this scar problem, but I don't think there's any. You may also benefit from taking Borage or Black Currant oil softgels for a few months and maybe Burdock herbal extract (liquid extract is better) to help your skin strengthen from within.
Work with your skin and be patient. Real results don't come overnight.

I hope you find this answer helpful.
Have a beautiful day,
Take good care
