Here is a confession: I am a big fan of Sci-Fi, fantasy and superhero movies. And since am a big time fan of Spider Man series I thought of creating a spider inspired nail art since the most-awaited flick, Spider Man 4 – the amazing Spider Man, is about to release.
Not only will it turn heads, it is simple to re-create and fun to do. So, this Halloween opt for a spider print manicure. After all, it is all about the dressing up, right? Grab your colours, brushes and get going, ladies.
Here is a simple way to make a spider print on your nails in a step by step tutorial. Let’s start:
To recreate this look, first prep your nails by moisturising and buffing them and then begin by applying a good layer of Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat base coat on your nails to prevent colors from staining your nail beds. Let the base coat dry completely. Once done, paint all base coat with pure yellow polish on your nails, double coating will be best. I have used Tip Top in melted butter colour yellow polish.
Stamp out the spiders from image plate No.m28 of Konad. with special black polish (make the spiders a little tilted diagonally as if facing the upper left corner of the nails which will be the center of the web ultimately) and with a dotting tool or polish brush (I have substituted this with an old polish brush cutting it down to 2-3 bristles to get the finest brush) drew 4 lines with dark red pastel nail polish like in the picture below (it’s completely fine if the lines are not perfect, cobweb never is.)
Now, this is the most interesting part. Carefully with the help of the same brush, take some more red polish and make the web lines curved i.e. concave towards the spider and convex towards the web center at the top left. Once done, use a cotton swab dipped in acetone to clean the colour off your fingers. I have used ULTA Maximum Strength 100% Pure Acetone Nail Polish
After the design dries, seal your fabulous manicure with a good layer of a very thick clear top coat until the edges are sealed and the nail is smooth to the touch. I have used, Umbrella Oxygen Raincoat Top Coat as it has a UV filter too – perfect for my nails while I’m hitting a beach or going out for a lunch
To remove the nail art, soak your nails in acetone for about 15-30 seconds.
So, here you have the creative spider nail print in its final form.
