Master Freehand Nail Art: A Step-by-Step Guide

Free hand nail art designs always give a wide opportunity to play around with different designs. Whichever design comes to your mind, you can incorporate them provided that you have a good hand at creating small designs on your little canvas – The Nails.
The best part about free hand nail art is that you are not limited to just a few water decals or rhinestones when it comes to nail art. Those are easier but free hand is a little difficult. So if you are a fan of free hand nail art and gradient texturing then you will definitely love this one.

How To Do A Basket Weave Nail Art

This is a basket weave nail art and I am trying to show you the basic basket weave nail art here.

Things you need for basket weave nails:

  • A light forest green shade (I am using Panama from Tips and Toes)
  • A bright yellow shade (I am using Amarelo Sol from Colorama)
  • A light pink shade (I am using rose pink from Revlon Street wear)
  • A glitter polishes of your choice
  • Nail art brush or a black striper
  • Transparent top coat
  • Base coat (optional)
  • Black polish.
  • A piece of makeup sponge
  • A matte white or matte pink base paint (I am using Hong Kong from Tips and Toes)

Stepwise Tutorial:

Step 1:

Paint your nails with a base coat. Let them dry. Then paint your nails two coats of matte white or with matte light pink –  I am using Hong Kong here.

Step 2:

Take the bit of makeup sponge and use a little pink colour on it .Dab it on to the nails starting from bottom. This is gradient texturing.

Step 9:

Fill in lines for the top portion very precisely with vertical but a bit slanted lines.

Step 10:

You basket weave is complete. Now put 1-2 coats of your favourite top coat and seal in your design.  Clean up the mess on the sides with a cotton bud dipped in makeup remover.

Hope you liked this simple but glamorous nail art. Additionally use some rhinestones on this design. If you are using rhinestones, then put 2 coats of top coat and place the stone immediately at the position you want it to be. Use another layer of top coat over the rhinestone to fix it firmly.
