From the first look, it seems like the summer season gets all the good things, like the nail art, but don’t be upset as there is plenty of nail-inspiration to be found in another season as well. Hello, Spring! After all, from flowers to fruits, nature is at its best when they are flaunting it in your face. One such nail print is cherry blossoms.
Cherry Blossoms, also known as Sakura, are the flowers of a particular tree found in Japan. They are considered to be a symbol of clouds due to their nature of blooming and also symbolise the short-lived nature of life. The flowers begin blossoming in January which is eagerly awaited by the Japanese who conduct flower viewing parties. This Hanami or custom of having a picnic under the Sakura tree is centuries old. Now we may not be that lucky to get an opportunity to view this beautiful gift of nature, but we can surely try a cherry blossom nail art design!
Here is a simple way to draw a beautiful cherry blossom tree on your nails in a step by step tutorial. Let’s start:
Begin your nail art by applying a good layer of base coat on your nails to prevent nail polishes from staining your nail beds. Let it dry completely. Once done, paint your nails with 2 coats of a blue or teal nail polish (I have used Avon Aqua Fantasy). You can also try a gradient background of blue or light pink, like Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Textured Nail Color.
Next, take a thin brush, dip it in the black polish and draw branches starting from the corner of your nail as shown in the picture. You can also use black acrylic colour or a striping polish as a substitute. Observe how each branch starts from a different corner of the nails. This helps to give it a natural look.
Now, this is the most interesting part. Once the branch dries, with a dotting tool or a toothpick, apply white dots in 3s to resemble a flower. Repeat the same on the other nails. Let it dry thoroughly. Take care not to overcrowd your nails with them. Restrict the flowers to only two or three depending on the size of your nails. If you have small nails, you can go for two big and one small flower like I have done. Once done, use a cotton swab dipped in acetone to clean the extra colour off your fingers. Finish it off by applying two good layers of a transparent topcoat to seal in your nail art.
So, here you have the fancy cherry blossom print in its final form.
