Global Trends in Abortion Laws: A Growing Conflict

Abortion statistics reveal a disturbing fact. The number of abortions has been rising with each passing year. Some countries of the world have put a ban on abortion as they consider it immoral and unethical. Many countries though have accepted it saying that abortion should be carried out if a necessity arises. However, what's disturbing is that abortion is being carried out for reasons that aren't legal. For instance, in many cases, the female aborts the child which happens because of having unprotected sex. Today in America, the abortion rate is around 40%. Even after many laws are passed to curb this trend, the situation remains unchanged in most parts of the world. According to a study, various American citizens stated that they underwent abortion as they didn't want to have the child at that point of time. The reason just wasn't because the couples didn't want to have a baby. Around 21.3% of the respondents said that they can't afford a baby and that's why they decided to undergo abortion. Many citizens take pills to prevent pregnancy. Quite frankly, this not only prevents pregnancy but also affects the health of the woman taking the pill. Yes, sometimes it's necessary to go for abortion. However, that doesn't justify the numerous other reasons why abortion is carried out today. Another study reveals that 6.1% of women have health issues and that's why they do not want to have a child - yet another reason for abortion. Only recently, Texas has come out with one of the toughest anti-abortion laws in the history of the United States of America.
