Transforming Resin into Durable Stone-like Material: Methods & Resources
QuestionDr Roark,
i am seeking a process that would convert resin into a stone-like material, making it very hard. could you advise what opportunities there are to create such a stone from a resin?
very much appreciate your time.

AnswerGLENN,
If you check the GANOKSIN.COM/ORCHID archives I believe you'll find some threads on resin use and processes there. I don't use much resin and would hate to give you my experimental work trials so ganoksin is the place to ask and look for previous answers. Make.com also has some videos of creating stone like subtances that can then be milled to your specs. It is fairly easy- crushing or embedding whatever, or just colouring the resin and pouring into a mould but again, I do so little with the stuff that there is far better info out ther than I can give you. When I do use it I use a commonly available pour-n-cast brand that uses a resin and catalyst- a note on buying though- check the date on the packaging, old product, particularly catalyst will not work well.and if you are just beginning to work in it, you want the freshest available product so your efforts aren't foiled by a bad batch of goo!
best regards, Ari
