Stone Replacement for Damaged Jewelry: Cost & Process
QuestionHello I recently took my ring into my local jeweler to be repaired as the center stone (8ct blue topaz) had become loose. I was told that they would tighten the fitting at my own risk as the stone had a small chip in it that could fracture. I told them to go ahead and do the work.My question is how hard is it to replace this stone if it is ruined? Could I theoretically purchase an 8ct stone in the same shape and replace it or is it much more involved than that? Thanks
AnswerHello
I am not that familiar with blue topaz ..but I went to eBay and searched and there are hundreds of auctions with very low priced stones only ..what you need to know is what the quality range is ,, and how tha relates to price ..try Google.com also...

Placing a replacement stone in your setting should be no problem at all..
