Can you tell me how does one tell the difference between a fake gem stone and a real one?
How are gemstone tested for authenticity?

hello...that is a good question...first depends on the stone..
it often takes a gemologist to determine if a stone real or fake..there are several crteria..
specific weight...color..hardness...light refraction and others..for example to tell a diamond from manmade Moisenite diamond a special tester machine is required..amber can have heat applies and will burn if acrilic plastic...Many real stones are heat treated to make the color
deeper...this is a problem in value sometimes...so this is just some ways....
