QuestionI have been into amber for awhile, now noticing the price skyrocket. Is it becoming more rare? I don't really own much jewlry and wonder if I should buy now or if maybe this is only a trend. And: is there a higher value for yellow or dark yellow amber vs. green?
AnswerGood Question Darina,
In some areas of the Mediterranean and Baltic Sea where Amber is found, the retrieval varries greatly from time to time. The market price depends on supply and demand and quality, not so much color.
Don't stock up on Amber thinking the price is rising because it could drop in six months.
It's better to buy low and and sell high or buy it and hold it long term 5 - 10 years.
Enjoy your Amber and have fun with it. I love Amber its a really cool material. Especially Amber with bugs !!!!.
Many Appraisers shy people away from buying amber as an investment.
Please be Careful.
