Understanding 14K Gold: Plumb Gold vs. 14K

I have a necklace that is marked 14KB does that mean it is 14k bond?  Thank you for your time.   Karen

Dear Karen,

I am not familiar with14KB. But what the necklace might have stamped on it is 14K"P" - which indicates that it is "plumb" gold. or at a minimum 14KT. This procedure and stamp was instituted by the U.S. government to tighten the rules by which a manufacturer could call a piece 14 karat, saying "if you stamp it 14 karat it has to BE at least 14 karat - or "plumb gold".
