Third Grade Science Test Help: Jewelry Making & Rock Formation

Question
My daughter forgot her book to find some answers for a test in the morning, have two questions left, 1. a person who cuts and polished minerals for use in making jewelry is called a _______.
and 2. the natural process by which rocks are created and changed to form new rocks is called the_________. thank you for any kind of help you can give us.

Answer
Dear Cherie, quite clearly your daughter would learn more of this by looking it up herself and my answers may be correct but not what the teacher is wanting to see. Since this is for a test, perhaps she will be able to do well on the test with my help:

The gem cutter is a lapidary.  Lapidary is also the name of the process.
Rocks form by many means into different sorts of rocks but the process a rock goes through over time to slowly alter to different forms is the rock cycle.

Best wishes.  God Bless and Peace.  Thomas.

Thanks very much for the fine ratings. I am sorry my first line came across sounding critical of you asking the question; I did not mean that. I also realize in schools today parents are often the last to know the answers since the subject is not part of our normal lives and the book is needed to assist the child in study.  We are fortunate the Internet is here for learning but knowing what search terms to use are also needed, as I know from my personal experience and lack of results in some searches. I hope I was able to substitute for the book and hope the assistance was in time.  God Bless.  Thomas.
