QuestionI need to replace two stones that are bezel-set in a ring. What is involved in removing-replacing the stones? Is it done from the open bottom? Thank you.
Answerhello yes the bezel has to be pride opened up from the top...if the bottom is open this helps...
however the important thing is the composition of the stone... some stones are very durable
and can be removed without damage....however there are some songs that are very soft
such as Tanzenite and Opal..we can be very soft and cracked easily...
a Goldsmith will determine what he wants to do often they stay away from the soft stones..
