QuestionQUESTION: Is there a successful chemical process out there for melting
gold jewelry?
ANSWER: If you simply want to melt it into a gold nugget or bar, here is a good site that explains the details pretty well. http://nevada-outback-gems.com/Reference_pages/melting_gold.htm
If you are wanting to refine it and burn it down to pure gold, that is a more complex process and most people prefer to leave it to a professional refinery.
I believe there are chemical processes that melt gold without the use of a torch, however, they require highly toxic chemicals like hydrochloric acid, and unless you really know what you're doing, they can be pretty dangerous to mess with.
Hope this helps.

QUESTION: I understand and realize that probably highly toxic chemicals
would probably be needed. I am wondering if this has been
done on a larger scale? How about an electronic process
similar to plating products with gold but perhaps a reverse
process of some kind? Am I just dreaming or what?
AnswerSorry. You are asking questions beyond my expertise here. I have gone no further than melting scrap into gold bars in my own facility. For refining to pure gold, I send it to a refinery, and I've never tried the chemical process of melting. You probably need to seek out a chemistry expert or an alchemist!
Good luck, and be careful if you start playing around with those chemicals!
