Melting Scrap Gold: A Beginner's Guide to Bullion & Recasting

Question
I am considering buying scrap gold locally as well as off sites like ebay.. and am hoping to get set up to melt them , getting rid of impurities etc.. both creating bullions as well as recasting some of the gold I hope.. I see different furnaces available.. Can i set up without one of those? can you start me with the basics and let me pic your brain a bit? I am very interested in this but want to do some leg work first...
thanks alot I hope to hear from you

Answer
Im sorry- I wont be able to help you with specifics, that is not my field. We send all our scrap to refiners and let them do all the work. The burn-out of the impurities is caustic and  may be uncomfortable if you are using it in home or garage. I would leave it to a refiner to do this...they will charge a percentage to do this and most unfortunately, are not that honest. If you would like I can give you the name of a refiner we have been using who we are pleased with..please email me for further info
