Understanding Light Bleeding After Intercourse: Causes & When to Worry
QuestionI am 30 years old, had a colposcopy last November because of abnormal cells, biopsies came back normal. Just stopped taking birth control pills in June, have had 3 periods since then. The most recent one was Aug.4-7, and abnormally light. This week had very light pinkish bleeding after sex...it went away after one wipe and no more bleeding since. Bleeding after sex has only happened a few times before, right before I began my period (it kind of seemed to "jump start" the period). I do not have my period right now...I'm terrified it might be cancer. Should I be worried?
AnswerDear Shelly,
Thank you for writing me I will try to help ease your mind if I can keeping in mind I am not a doctor. Now I have read where the walls of our vagina are very delicate and it does not take much to cause them to bleed. This is what I think is going on with you especially since you said it happens after sex I do not think you have any cancer just keep an eye on what is going on and if it becomes worse then I would talk to a professional about it.
God Bless
