Persistent Vaginal Discharge: Causes & When to See a Doctor

Question
Age - 33
Children - 2
First day - 2/3/04
I have pretty regular cycles, nothing unusual.  This last cycle has been odd.  The cycle began on Tuesday 2/3/04, ended Sunday 2/8/04.  I had intercourse on Tuesday 2/10/04.  There was some dark discharge.  I thought nothing of it, guessed I wasn't as done as I thought.  Today is Friday 2/13/04 and there is still a watery (not thick) discharge with a hint of brownish-red in it.  Should I be concerned or wait a few days to see if it clears up?

Answer
If your period started on February 3, you are now on cycle day #12. You are approaching the day of ovulation. Thsi often can be accompanied by some spotting (mid-cycle staining) or ("mittelshmerz"). Around ovulation, there is also a thinning of the cervical mucus causing a thin discharge. Ir is quite normal and is nothing to worry about. It usually will disappear after a few days.
