Is This Implantation Bleeding? Understanding Early Pregnancy Signs

Question
Hello.  I am a 29-year-old mother of a three-year-old.  I have been TTC again for 3 months now.  My last menstrual period began on October 27th.  On day 19 of my cycle, I had mild cramping and noticed red blood and a few small clots in the toilet when I went to the bathroom.  By the end of the day, the blood became dark red/brown and I am beginning my 4th day of bleeding this brown blood (with small clots sometimes).  There is dark blood on my tp EVERY time I wipe.  Although I normally don't have extremely heavy periods, this bleeding is lighter than my normal flow.  I can get by using one panty liner each day I had some VERY mild cramping again last night (the third day of my bleeding).  My breasts are sore, and I've got a nagging headache.  My periods are on average 28 days apart.  (Never less than 26 and never more than 29.)  I have NEVER had any mid-cycle bleeding before.  I was wondering if brown blood and cramping on day 19 is too early for implantation bleeding.  It's too early for an accurate pregnancy test. What could be causing this bleeding?

Answer
Hi
Sorry, for the lateness of this e-mail. It is actually rather late for implantation on day 19. Implantation usually happens around day 14 or 15. You might actually have an early loss. If you are going to test positive, it will most likely happen around Nov 24 or 25. If is probably a good idea to call your doctor if the bleeding continues or you miss your next period. Good luck to you!
