IVF After Salpingectomy: Timing & Outcomes - Expert Insights

Question
I was recently diagnosed with hydrosalpinx and advised to undergo a salpingectomy followed by ivf.
Generally speaking, how soon after the salpingectomy can the first cycle of ivf be started?  Are you aware of any websites that may have published research studies of outcomes in ivf post salpingectomy?
Any information or direction you have to offer would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Anna Maria

Answer
Salpingectomy is merely removal of the fallopian tube. If you have both tubes removed due to hydrosalpinx, you can almost immediately try IVF. YOur ovaries will still be working and the ova can be retrieved and can be implanted into your uterus and a pregnancy can progress. YOu do not need fallopian tubes for a pregnancy to proceed. As soon as you are recuperated from the salpingectomy (2-4 weeks) you can start preparation for egg retrieval.
