Navigating Pregnancy After Significant Weight Loss: Advice & Support

Question
I'm not sure if you can answer this, but any advice would be great.

I just found out about being pregnant with my second child.  With the first one, I put on an extreme amount of weight (65-70 pounds).  Now, 2 years and 3 months later, I am down to a good weight, with plans for losing more.  I even found out that according to my BMI, i am on the verge of even being underweight, which is fabulous.  Then I find out i'm pregnant.  I am very excited about this.  My only issue with it is having to allow myself to get big again.  I realize that with proper eating and exercise, that I don't have to gain a huge amount of weight while pregnant. And I know that after I have the baby, it won't be a big deal to lose it again.  I know all that.  The problem lies in my head.  I just don't want to allow myself to put any weight on, even though i know i need to for the baby.  Even when I feel nauseous and know that if I just eat, i will feel better, i still hesitate to eat.  My husband is concerned for the baby's sake, but he just doesn't understand my problem.  I know that i need to get over it, but the question is how.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hello Diana!
Let me first say I TOTALLY understand what you are talking about.  Once you have gotten big you understand how hard it is to get little again.
When I was pregnant with my son I was not over eating but I gained the weight, I was not too worried about it really.  I just figured it would melt away! WRONG!!!  I am back down now but boy was it a LONG LONG time.  It took almost two years!
Something to remember is you now have a little one.  A couple of things make that were you will most likely NOT gain as much weight.  One is that your body is more prepared and the second is you are forced to be more active.
What you need to do is surround yourself with good foods you like.  You can eat as many fruits and vegatable as you like without gaining weight!  So if you like apples, eat apples.   Of course you can not live on apples alone but if you are making good choices the weight won't pile on so easy.
Don't forget the water either.  The more water you drink the less bloated you should look therefor you won't FEEL as large.
Finally, relax.  In a few months you will have a great healthy baby.  Healthy because of every bite you took!  A few pounds won't matter then.
Good luck to you!  Eat!  Your baby needs you.
