Epidural Use During Labor & Infant Development: Research & Insights
QuestionMy wife and I have a 10 month old baby. She was born natural in that no drugs were used. We are interested in knowing if there any studies or statistics on whether children develop differently when their mothers used an epidural during birth or not. Our child seems to be so aware of her surroundings, we just wonder if there really is a difference. We are planning on having one more child.
AnswerHello Randy and Kim- the infants who were exposed to epidural drugs often have difficulty learning how to suck properly at the breast. You might find interesting info on a site called the International Childbirth Education Association and you might enjoy a site called BirthLove. All the best- Cheri.
