Questioni have previously had two children both vaginal births the first girl weighed 8lb 7 1/2 oz and the second child was a difficult birh weighing 10lb 2 1/4 oz i am now expecting a boy in sept 26th was wondering if i am able to opt for a caeserian as its likly to be bigger again ive been told is there a way of telling babys weight through a scan?

AnswerHello Kelly- no, I would NEVER suggest a section in such a situation. What you REALLY need here is better care and support. I would urge you to locate a local midwife and interview her- see if you don't have more confidence in her care than your dr. With proper support, you can birth whatever baby your body grows- and smoothly. I cannot tell the number of clients I have had who had a section for a "too large" baby and then vaginally delivered a much BIGGER baby with midwifery care. All the best- Cheri.
