Pelvic Infection & STIs: Understanding Chlamydia & Gonorrhea

I am a 21 year old female. I went to the ER today because i had abdominal pain. The DR said that I had a pelvic infection. I had a culture done last year and the only person i have been with is my current boyfriend of almost 2 years. Could he have had it before me and just now gave it to me? Or could I have had it and not known it until now? Of course if he was cheating on me Im almost certain he would not tell me but should i be concerned that he is? I dont know what else to think... besides that hes cheating and just now gave it to me. Could you help?

It is possible that your boyfriend has not been unfaithful. Sometimes tests can give false positive results. Also, chlamydia can be carried for up to 4 years, maybe longer. Most likely your husband has had other partners, if you have not.
