is this a sign of menopause? I'm 40yrs old. still hoping to conceive a child someday. Is it too late for me in view of the above results? and why don't I get my priods? the PMS is there the feeling is there that they are just round the corner but then nothing! please let me know if its not what i fear it to be.

AnswerBased on your FSH results, you are not near menopause. At the age of 40, you are, of course, approaching menopause. Every woman is approaching menopause after the age of 40. HOwever, as you near menopause, your Follicle Stimulating Hormmone will rise. After menopause it is usually over 45U/l. Your LH is normal for an ovulating woman and your estrodiol also appears within normal limits. Sometimes we use Glucophage to treat Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, but you have not said that you have any evidence of cysts in your ovary. However, PCOS is sometimes found in women who are not getting their periods), As long as you are getting monthly periods, you are not approaching menopause and are probably ovulating. If you are trying to conceive, concentrate on having sex during your fertile days in the month. If you get your period every 28 days, you probably ovulate on cycle day #14. You should be able to conceive if you have sex on cycle day #13,14,15, or 16. Concentrate sex on those days each month. If you are not getting your period regularly, then you may not be ovulating and your doctor can bring on your period using Provera 10mg twice a day for five days. Then your period will have to be regulated before you can conceive. Good Luck.
