QuestionI am 29, have one four year old boy, and my first day of my last period was 25 Sep 04. My favorite food and strongest craving is Sushi. I was wondering if it was okay to eat Sushi (raw or cooked) rolls while pregnant?
AnswerSushi is a good source of protein and is not contraindicated during pregnancy. HOwever, you have to worry about the amount of mercury in the fish (raw or cooked) and should avoid more than a little bit of tuna, shark, or tile fish during pregnancy. Shrimp is O.K. I do not know how much mercury is in Yellowtail or eel. You can have sushi, but be aware that mercury is dangerous for you and the fetus.
