Understanding Sun Exposure & Skin Reactions: Redness, Tan & Peeling

Question
QUESTION: Hi Elaine im not one of those people who get sun all the time but i do get the occasional sun tan i was just wondering is it normal for me to just get red and tanned and not peel because i always notice all my other friends peel after we go to the beach and if i do peel its usually just on my shoulders and not my face is this a good thing or bad thing thanks

ANSWER: HI Chris,

As I tell my clients and friends, everyone has their own individual skin type
Of course, sun exposure will make skin red, tanned and eventually peel
When you skin tans it looks nice but it is actually damaged. (sorry)
Your shoulders peeled because it may be more sensitive than the skin on your face.

My sound advise is always wear a high sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun. As you get older, your skin will thank you.

Hope this answer helped.

I'm open to any other questions you may have

Thank you and hope you have a good day

Warmly
Elaine :)

Answer
Hello again. Everyone s skin is different so a season or geographical location isn t a factor of whether someone will have blemishes. What matters what you eat and drink will show up on your skin.  Drinking up to 8 to 10 glasses of water daily is essentially beneficial for optimal health. Eating vegetables, fruits, fish such as salmon and taking a multivitamin helps with a healthy looking skin as well as your internal health.  Avoiding salt and sugar is important because it affects skin.s condition.  Exercising regularly also maintains a healthy skin.  Hope this helps and take good care of yourself and your skin.    Warmly, Elaine. :)
