14-Year-Old Pregnancy: Understanding the Chances & Next Steps
Questionjust found out my 14 year old had sex for the first time on april 25 her period was due to start the same week it did not start may the 3 its still has not stared whats are the chances she got pregnant?can you get pregnant the same week your period is due? when do i need to give her a teast?
AnswerWhen was the first day of your daughters last period. If she normally has a 28 day cycle, ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. Usually, if conception has occurred, the next period (which is due 14 days later) will not start. We recommend taking a pregnancy test if a woman is seven days late for her period. If she has not gotten her period after being seven days late, you have to rule out pregnancy. If the pregnancy test is negative at that time, the fact that she missed her period can be due to "anovulatory amenorrhea" which is quite normal up toe age of 16.
