QuestionI called the doctor today cause the provera didnt start my period she wants me to take this other medicine with the provera for 30 days...i cant afford the other medicine. They are saying the reason I don't have a period is because i had the depo in October even tho i've had a period til January. Do you think if i buy a body cleasner one from the nutrition store that it will work and help start my periods? She told me today when i go to pick up the medicine to take a pregnancy test first. Is that normal? sorry i have sooo many ?'s thanks for your answers!

I havent had a period in 8 months now. I went to the doctor 19 days ago and he gave me provera. Take 10mg for 10 days and inbetween then or in 7 days i should get a period. Problem is my 7th day was up this Saturday...and i never started..He checked my ovaries and said everything looked really great. Could i be pregnant and thats why i didnt start? or is it just something else? what should i do? thank you sooooo much!

Hi there,
I would think that during your visit to the doctor, the first thing he would have checked for, or ruled out is that you are pregnant.
But honestly, if you have just reached your 7 day mark now, I would still give it atleast another 2 or 3 days.
If you still havent had a period by then, Then definately go back to the doctor so this situation can be investigated further.
Now, if you have had unprotected sex, recently, then ofcourse you very well could be in the early stages of pregnancy. But you say, that you havent had a period in 8 months now ..Well if you were pregnant for that amount of time, you certainly would know it.
If you had intercourse quite recently, with in the 19 days since seeing your doctor, its possible you could be pregnant..But I really think that its unlikely at this point, and that there is another issue involving the prevention of your period.
But still, as I said earlier, I would give it a a couple of days grace, to see if your period does start.
Even though your doctor said your ovaries are okay, in my experience the most common reason for women whom have delayed periods for months at a time, is because of polycystic ovary syndrome. This is common in a lot of women, of all ages. Facial hair, Acne, and wait gain are some of the symptoms that indicate this condition, along with missing periods.
Google PCOS, to find out more information. And if you do not get your period at all, Definately get back to the Dr, and discuss other reasons besides PCOS, as to what could be going on with your cycles ..
Hope this was of some help to you ..Take care :)

AnswerHi there,
I wasnt aware that you taken Depo Provera as birthcontol back in October.
You know, The standard rule for Depo Provera, is that once your 12 weeks is up, you are at risk for being pregnant, and your cycle should kick in ..
However, I know of people, that took Depo, and didnt get pregnant again, till a year or so after taking the shot. I also know a few people that didnt see their period for months after taking the drug. I guess to some extent, it must linger in the system, having affect in "some" womens cycles ..
As for a "herbal" remedy, or a natural remedy ..I really cannot comment on it. I dont know much about it, so its not really fair for me to pass comment on it. One thing I will say, is that even if its natural, of herbal ..these products still have medicinal ingrediants. You need to be very, very careful ..cause you can still have adverse affects. If I were you, I would speak to an expert in natural, or herbal medicines, explain your situation indepth, and the medicine you have taken. I certainly would not go buy a product and just take it. That can be, hazerdous, and you could potentionally have more problems on your hands. So before doing this, please investigate before taking anything. Perhaps run it by your doctor as well ..Generally doctors are not intrested in hearing about natural products ..but sometimes, you will find one that will discuss it with you ..and give you their opinion of it.
As for the pregnancy test. I am not surprised at all, that she reccomended you do this before taking any other drug. She basically is stating to you, what I did lastnight. You COULD be pregnant, its not impossible. So before you take anything you have to rule this out. Because if you are pregnant ..and take additional drugs, it can be harmful to your pregnancy.
Hope this is of some Help :)
