Bladder Infection & Skin Concerns: Symptoms, Causes & Potential Solutions

Question
What is a bladder infection and what causes it? What are the symptoms of bladder infection? And also, I sweat a lot underneath my breasts and have bumps that have pus coming out of them. Every now and then the bump becomes full of pus and I don't pop them but yellow liquidy discharge (pus)and a little bit of blood comes out of the sweat bump. Is it only harmful when you have pus and blood discharge coming out of your breast? And can the sweat bumps be preventable in the future?

Answer
A bladder infection (or kidney infection) is caused by a an overgrowth of bacteria in your bladder. The symptoms are frequency of urination, urgency (the feeling that you have to urinate but when you get to the bathroom, very little comes out), and burning on urination. To see if you have an infection in your bladder, we send you for a culture and sensitivity of your urine. This must be done at a lab and they grow the specimen. If there is greater than 100,000 colonies of a bacteria, they identify the bacteria and we can then treat the infection with antibiotics. It is very common.   If you sweat under your breasts, you may have "prickly heat" or a rash due to candida albicans (yeast). If yellow or white material is extruded from these bumps, they may or may not be pus (dead white blood cells). Don't pop them, but merely soak them in warm or hot soaks, or hold a wet warm washcloth on them. Make an appointment with your doctor and show these bumps to the doctor. If you have blood coming out of your nipple, you must be evaluated.  Try to avoid sweating. Change your clothes often and take showers every day. Wear a cloth bra.
