Question - so can i begin "trying to get pregnant" as soon as i stop bleeding? will i most likely ovulate this cycle (planned was 10/24-29) still or not until i have a period next month? I got pregnant within 90 day of off of birth control for my first 2 children, but the iud is different. does it look like i will have trouble getting pregnant this time?
My name is Keri I have 2 children, ages 4 and 2. after my 2 year old i had the mirena IUD, on 9-27-05 i decided to have it removed to try for a 3rd and final pregnancy. When i had it removed i was at my ovulation, and then 2 days later on the 29th i began bleeding, bad! I am on day 15 of bleeding and on day 2 of premarin. I was just wondering where this will take my perfectly normal cycle? and where to go from here as far as getting pregnant as quick as possible?! We want to conceive right away but not sure what to go off of for an ovulation cycle. My regular period was due on the 13th and that is the day i began the premarin to stop the heavy bleeding. Thanks for you help, I am confused, impatient and upset!
Answer -
If your doctor gave you Premarin to stop the heavy bleeding, wait until the bleeding stops. Then wait for a normal period again. Ovultion should occur around 14 days after the start of your next normal period. The Premarin should stop the bleeding pretty quickly. Be patient. The bleeding was probably due to the withdrawal of the Mirena system. You should start back with your normal, regular periods soon.
AnswerWe will not know when you ovulate until you have a normal period. The bleeding you had was due to the withdrawal of the Mirena. The premarin will stop the abnormal bleeding, but until you get a period, you may or may not ovulate. It can't hurt to TTC at this time. However, you will be assured of ovulation 14 days after the start of your next period. Proceed as you wish.
