Repeat Cesarean Section with Vertical Incision: Risks & Safety
QuestionIs it safe to have another ceaserian section when I already have 4 with a vertical incision.
AnswerSome obstetricians will not want to get involved with the fifth repeat cesarean section. However, there is no medical contraindication in having another cesarean. You would not be allowed to try for a VBAC, and you should realize that your bladder is, most likely, tacked up quite high. It would be difficult to do the surgery. HOwever, I have had some patients who have had 5 cesarean sections. There is always a risk of rupture of the uterus due to weakness of the tissue at the site of the previous scar. With several cesareans, this risk is increased.
