I had an tubligation done about 6yrs ago in January. The doctor clip and I guess burned is there a possiablity that I can get pregant if the tubes can attach themseleves somehow.
Answer -
Tubal ligation has a 99% effective rate. That means that less than 1 person in 100 can become pregnant after a tubal ligation. If, during the procedure, the tubes were cut or burned (cauterized), it is doubtful that you can ever become pregnant. Sometimes, during rhe procedure, the wrong structure is cauterized or clipped (i.e. round ligament instead of the tube). If that occurred, you still can become pregnant. In the older procedures, where a loop was formed in the tube and it was tied and cut, "recanalization" can occur at the base of the loop and sperm can reach the egg, allowing for fertilization. Overall, if the procedure was done correctly, I doubt that you can become pregnant.
AnswerIf you want to become pregnant after a tubal ligation, you will have to have surgery. During the surgery, damaged portion of each tube is removed and the remnants are reattached (reanastomed) to each other, making sure that the tube is patent (open) once again. The chances of pregnancy after such a procedure are around 60-75%. I would suggest that, if you want the surgery, consult with a reproductive endocrinologist who performs these procedures every day. You have one chance at reconstruction and you want someone who has lots of experience. Ask what theyr success rate as far as pregnancy is. A procedure such as this is quite expensive. I would try a tertiary hospital attached to a medical school where they perform this procedure frequently.
