Facial Burning Sensation: Possible Causes & What To Do

Question
OK I'm an instruction follower so I will answer your questions first. I'm 25 will be 26 on 12/20/05, I have 1 child a 4 yr old daughter and my last mentsral period was on 7/18/05.   So about a week or so ago I had felt a slight tingling sensation on my face almost like an a asleep feeling.  I tend to have acne breakouts so I thought I would try a face mask to get my skin under control.  I put on the face mask and immediately it burned my face so I washed it right off. I stopped using products and even applied some aveeno body lotion to the areas where my skin felt more damaged. Its been awhile now and on the left side of my face it almost looks as if I have developed a rash. It doesn't tingle constantly but enough that I notice it and it bothers me. Should I be concerned that I have done nerve damage? Is this skin senstitivty normal of pregnant women? Is there anthing I can put on my face to help make it feel better? Thanks,

Jennifer

Answer
Many dermatoses are common during pregnancy. If you have tingling and what appears to be a rash, I would suggest that you consult a dermatologist to rule out any skin manifestations. The dermatologist should be aware of which skin aliments are common during pregnancy. If you continue to have tingling and notice any nerve deficit (difficulty in smiling, or loss of feeling in that side of the face) you should see a nerologist. It sometimes is common to develop a "Bell's Palsy" during pregnancy, which resolves after the delivery of the baby. If you have any concern, consult with the dermatologist and neurologist.
