Warmth in Left Ankle: Potential Causes & What to Do

Hello,
I have been having a warm sensation on the left side of my ankle. It starts just left of the ankle bone and the sensation travels a little upward. I notice this about 5 times a day or more. What would this be caused from?

Sorry for the delay. My regular practice has been unbelievably busy.
Really hard to tell. If warmth is the only symptom, I would first think of nerve irritability. I think I'd just wait this out and see if it resolves, if not, then an exam is warranted.
