HPV Treatment During Pregnancy: Safety & Alternatives

Question
I am 28 years old, I have one 9 year old boy.  The date of my last period was October 2, 2005.  Which makes me almost 13 weeks pregnant.

I was told by a Nurse Practitioner that I can't use Conylox while pregnant because of its toxicity.  Is this true, even though it is topical?  I don't tolerate freezing or acid very well at all and Condylox is the only thing that I have found that works well and is virtually painless.

Thank you for your time.

Answer
Condylox (Podophyllum) is a category C drug and , although it is uncertain whether it is a human teratogen,it should NOT BE USED during pregnancy for the treatment of genital warts (human papilloma virus) because of the potential severe myelotoxicity and neurotoxicity  in the mother. Most authors consider it as a dangerous agent for use during pregnancy. It is contraindicated during pregnancy.
