Zoloft and Pregnancy: Risks, Effects, and What to Expect

I was wondering if taking the anti-depressant Zoloft is safe during pregnancy.  Have you seen any problems with the babies of your patients that take it?  thanks!

Zoloft is unlikely to increase the risk of birth defects. If you are taking it throughout the pregnancy, your baby may experience some complications for the first few days of life requiring extra care as it will be experiencing withdrawal symptoms. You will need to talk with your doctor to determine if it is needed during your pregnancy.
