Braxton Hicks Contractions: What to Expect at 33 Weeks
QuestionI am 33 weeks pregnant. I also have a 4 year old son. I have been having a lot of braxton hicks contractions (between 10-15 in a 30 minute period, each one lasts about 30 seconds) they seem to grow in intensity then stop all together. This happens a lot. I have them even when I'm resting in bed, but seems worse when I am on my feet for a long period of time. Is this normal or should I call my doctor?
AnswerAt this stage of pregnancy, it is completely normal to have Braxton-Hicks contractions as you describe. When you get past 38 weeks, you will start to have more regular contractions. When they occur every 6-8 minutes (from the start of a contraction to the start of the next contraction) and each one lasts for at least 45 seconds, call your doctor.
