Heavy Menstrual Bleeding: Causes, Symptoms & When to See a Doctor

I am 33 years old and I don't have any children.  Let me begin by telling you that I have never had regular cycles.  Recently I have been having my period more than I haven't.  As of right now, I got my period 4 days ago, and I am having very bad cramps and me period is very bad.  I am going through super plus tampons less than every two hours.  I usually can use the lite tampons but not this time.  I have to get up in the middle of the night atleast twice to change my tampon.  I just don't think that this is normal, can you please help me.

It is common to have very heavy bleeding for the first three days of your period. You did not mention the date of your last period, so I can't comment on any abnormality. If you think you have abnormal bleeding, make an appointment with your gynecologist. You can be placed on birth control pills to control your cycle.If the bleedng is very heavy, you may need a D&C to stop the bleeding (if you bleed longer than 14 days). Don't worry, but see your gyn if the bleeding persists.
