Bathing During Preterm Labor: Safety & Precautions

Question
I have been put on bedrest for preterm labor. Currently, my bag of water is intact but my cervix is dialated to about 2 cm and 90% effaced.  Is it okay to take a bath?

Answer
Hi Kelly,
taking a bath in itself is safe, especially since your waters didn't break, but getting in and out of the tub itself is the isse. Be sure to take a bath when someone else is home and can help you. Slipping can hurt both you and the baby, and pregnancy will put you off balance in may ways.
Also, you'll want to use a tepid temperature- warm but not too hot.
Try not to stay in too long (avoid pruniness)
but have fun :) water is a great element .
