Understanding Rh Incompatibility & Pregnancy - A Guide for Parents
QuestionMy LMP was April 19th, 2006. I have 2 children. One son 15 yo from a previous marriage and an 8 mo healthy baby girl. I am again pregnant, however my OB called saying that there is a problem with my Rh antibodies. I don't understand. I am A+ so I already have the antibodies. I'm not absolutely sure what my husband is. Why would I get the antibodies if I am A+? I have to go to a specialist but have yet to hear from tham to schedule me. I'm confused. Please give me you opinion. Many Thanks!
AnswerIt is possible that you are not really Rh + and you are realy Rh -. Thus you probably did not received RhoGam in the last two pregnancies and could have become snesitized. If you are A +, you could not have antibodies. Nothing is done before you are 28 weeks. I would suggest that you see your doctor right away to see what the problem is.
