Understanding Pregnancy Length: Multiparity & C-Sections

Question
Good morning,

I have been told many times that on average that multips have shorter pregnancies. Firstly, I was wondering why this is so often the case and secondly, if this is still so if your first pregnancy was by c-section (I hade a full placenta previa and had a c-section at 37 weeks).

I am now 38 and 5 weeks pregnant and loving every minute this time!!

Thank you kindly,
Renee Solomon

Answer
Dear Renee,

Multiparas do tend to have slightly shorter pregnancies, but more often the labors are shorter. And this does not by any means apply to every woman. Every woman and each pregnancy is different. Also, this tends to apply more to women who have had 2 or more previous vaginal births.

I hope this has helped you and answered your question. Keep enjoying each day!  :-)
