Question -
I am 39 .4 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby and I have been having contractions mostly when I stand or walk they are close together 3-7 minutes but when i sit down they get farther about could this be real labor?

Answer -
Dear Melissa,

You could be in labor.  Walking and standing upright would cause them to increase in frequency and strength.  Sitting down or laying down would cause them to get slower.  If I were you, I'd pack my bags and get ready because it sounds like your baby will be here soon!  Since this is your third baby, would probably already know the signs to look for, besides contractions.  I'd call my doctor and get his or her opinion.  Since this isn't your first baby, he or she is more likely to come faster than your other two.  Congratulations!!!  I hope all goes well!

Hello,
I'm sorry it took me so long to write back.  Allexperts wouldn't come up on my computer until this morning.
I think what you passed sounds like your mucus plug.  If that's the case, it's a good sign you'll probably go into labor this week if not in a few days.
If you want to help labor along a little bit, I know that walking around can help.  I'm not sure it works as far as getting contractions started, but since you say that you've been having them, walking would probably do a great deal of good, especially since when you're having a baby the "expert" doctors want you to lay down most of the time.
Take care and good luck!  I wish you a happy, healty baby! :)
