QuestionI had a D/C back in April '07 and my periods aren't every 28/29 days anymore, they've been 34,32,29,30,31, and 34. Fortunately, we've had sex frequently during the 14 day mark, til the next cycle begins...no pregnancy though. Is it possible my fertility has dropped since the operation? I'm 30 yrs old and never been pregnant, (exception of earlier this year.)
AnswerDear Kimberly,
The D&C should not have affected ovulation or your fertility. And, even though your periods are not right at every 28-29 days, they are still considered regular if they are normally between 26-32 days.
In general, women will ovulate approximately 14 days prior to the beginning of the next cycle. Cervical mucus is nature's big clue as to when you are about to ovulate and most fertile. When you notice your CM becoming more abundant, wetter, and stringy like an egg whites consistency, that is the time to really focus on trying to conceive.
Otherwise, since your cycles are varying, I would recommend having sex every other day (if possible) from cycle days 11 through 22. This should allow for any variation in your ovulation day and having sex every other day allows your partner's body to build back up his sperm stores.
I hope this information has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
