Understanding Early Pregnancy Blood Results: Progesterone & Estrogen

Question
Hi,
I have just received blood results for my Progesterone and Oestrogen levels as I'm being monitored throughout my menstrual cycle and post ovulation by a fertility clinic as I had 3 miscarriages last year.  As you can imagine I'm extremely anxious to find out if I'm pregnant and at only 3 weeks it's too early to use home pregnancy tests.  Today (7 DPO) my Progesterone level is 100 and my Oestrogen level is 1000.  Is this looking good?  I'll be tested again next week but the wait is unbearable.
Looking forward to your advice.

Answer
Dear Terri

This looks really good. However, there is no guarantee that any pregnancy in any woman at this age, 3weeks pregnancy, will continue.

When hormonal levels are at that level, a diagnosis of chemical pregnancy can be made. 50% of these abort by the time of next menses or few days after. Few women reports delayed menses for no apparent reason. Actually, this is what is called menstrual abortion. i.e. abortion mistaken for menses because it occurs at the approximately same time.

The remaining 50% present with clinical pregnancy.i.e. delayed menses for at least 1 week. Hope your next results will be reassuring.

Good Luck
