Paternity Concerns: Seeking Confirmation of Fatherhood

Question
Im 35 yrs old and this is my first pregnancy.  Although i am freaking out a lil and i know its probably all just in my head but i guess i just need some re assurance.  Ok my story is my boyfriend and i of 4 years had broke up and thought there was no chance of us getting back together and so i met someone else.  i had a period on 4th June to the 8th June.  On the 7th and 8th June (last 2 days of my period) i had sex but we used a condom. The following week my boyfriend came back on the 13th and we got back togther and we started having sex (unprotected, just using the withdrawal method).  On the 7th August i had an ultrasound and it said i was 7 weeks and 1 day.  So i guess what im asking is my boyfriend the father and not this other guy that i slept with on the 7th and 8th although we used a condom and as far as i know it never broke or come off and also when was this likely to have been conceived? can i count 7weeks 1 day back from the ultrasound done on the 7th August or no??  Please Help me im going insane.

Answer
Dear Kylie,

If the ultrasound on 8/7 confirmed by fetal measurements that you were 7 1/7 weeks at that point, this would indicate a probable conception date of 7/2 and a due date of 3/25/09. This doesn't jive exactly with your reported LMP date, but if you have longer cycles than 28 days OR if you have irregular cycle lengths, that would make sense.

If we used your reported LMP date of 6/4 and calculated back - your estimated conception date would have been 6/18 and an estimated due date of 3/11/09. So... with either scenario, it would have been a conception date well past 6/8.

I do apologize for the delay in answering your question. Although we are encouraged to answer within 3-5 days, I usually like to answer my questions within 48 hours. Unfortunately, I am having issues with migraines again and will likely need to take a short LOA from this while I get some medication adjusted. I do hate to make people wait when I know you are anxious for answers, so taking a short leave seems more reasonable. Again, I am sorry for the delay.

I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
