QuestionQUESTION: My current boyfriend has 2 children with his ex, however he and I are both questioning the second child. He says the last time he had sex with his ex was June 8th 2004 and the child was born March 7th, 2005. This was her second child, she is a smoker and was 22 years old at the time. I think she got pregnant more around the 17th-21st of June (through multiple conception calculators online) therefore making someone else the father? We are currently seeking paternity testing ... but I would hate to be wrong and have him deny a child that may be his until the test has been completed.
ANSWER: You cannot calculate conception very accurately based on the birthdate, because a normal pregnancy can last anywhere from 35-40 weeks after conception. If March 7 was the child's due date, then conception would have occurred on June 14, just barely out of range for your boyfriend to be the father. However, the range of possible conception dates based on that birth date runs from May 31 all the way to July 5, which definitely puts your boyfriend within the realm of possibility. It is good that you are getting the paternity test done to sort things out for sure.

QUESTION: March 7th was not the DUE date it was the actual BIRTH DATE, I am not sure what her actual due date was, but I know with the second child they tend to come 1-2 weeks prior to your due date - my second child was 2 weeks eariler than my given due date. She has claimed that 3 other men could be the father and I know if the conception date was after June 8th it could not possibily be my boyfriend.
AnswerAgain, based on that birth date alone, the possible range of conception dates runs from May 31 to July 5. Second children do not always come earlier. Over a large population, you may see that trend, but for individual women it does not always happen. My own children keep coming later and later, and the same is true of many others.
